Yoooo wazzam. Got a good one for you today, a lot to talk about. A couple of months ago Emelie Hollow released her album, Solitude for the world. Have to say, I’m a big fan of the work and have been listening to it a lot. Few may know, but the way I listen to music is a little unorthodox. Rather than having a large set of music I listen to at any given moment, I really just listen to 1 or 2 albums that I like for an extended period of time, maybe a month. I prefer this because I like listening to artists not songs, and this allows me to become very familiar with their work. Emelie Hollow has a lot to offer as a musician and we shall talk about that down hea .
I was introduced to Emelie through the intro of the album, ‘If You Go’ and was instantly intrigued. The first thing you would notice when you hear her music is the tone of her voice. The style is as though it’s a little kid singing. It’s not pitched up or anything, but it almost sounds Alvin and The Chipmunkish. To me, she sounds like a duumbbb talented eight-year-old. And please don’t get me wrong, I really like it, especially on the intro. ‘If You Go’ is basically about her being so in love with this guy that she’s afraid she’ll lose him. It’s really a sweet, heartwarming song fr. Sound like a Disney song fr. And that soft baby voice she has works perfectly on it.
Most of the songs on the album were in this same direction lyrically. Apart from a couple “men ain’t sh*t” type of songs, what I’m gathering lyrically from this album is whoever she’s talkin bout in these songs is a lucky dude cuz she sound like a down ahh chick . That’s what makes her voice so effective, it makes her sound maddd cute. Like I just wanna wrap her in my arms lol. Some moments had me messed up cuz there would be times where I’d wanna be like, “oh that was sexy”, but then I thought it was weird because that’s like thinking a little kid sounded sexy. She’s actually 25 so it’s all cool, but it was just a little questionable lol.
Mid-way through the album I started thinking to myself that these songs would be good Christian songs. Sometimes the lyrics would be almost to the point of worship, but mostly gratitude. Some of the hooks to the songs are “I’ve waited my whole life/ for a love like this”, “I find it hard to see/ how someone like you, could love someone like me”. Most of them are just very empowering to the recipient of the song, which to me is a breath of fresh air. Her music is very positive in its display of love, whereas I find most/more popular music is on the other end of love such as heartbreak or hate. But like I was saying, if this was labeled a Christian album it would be the best one ever lol. All jokes aside tho, I’ve been singing her songs with Jesus in mind, so I salute her for giving me that medium .
And while we’re on the subject… where the simp girls at??? Need me a Emelie Hollow while you playin .
I’m ready to be a big Emelie Hollow fan because she’s a very talented pop artist who I don’t necessarily see becoming super popular. If I was a betting man, I’d say she has the Lana Del Rey effect where she’s an amazing musician, but her voice isn’t the most suitable to be mass produced. But, the hell if I know anyway.
After you’re done analyzing her voice style you’ll start to realize, “oh shoot this girl can actually really sing.” When I said a dumbbb talented eight-year-old I meant a dumbbbbbb talented eight-year-old. Despite having that soft voice she also has a powerful belt which she can use in several tones. Definitely got “the voice” fr and is clearly a highly trained singer. Professional. Not to mention she’s an amazing harmonizer. Professional.
A lot of the compositions on the album are ballady-love-song style which fits her theme of course. Music that sounds cinematic is some of my favorite and that’s what the composition on these songs provide and I love it. However, another main sound she had in a few songs was a grungy folk style and a little bit of a funk rock style. This is what she implored in the few “men ain’t sh*t” songs that I was talkin about and more as well. Surprisingly, she pulls it off very well and these particular songs were actually the ones I’ve listened to most.
Unfortunately, this little analysis is gettin a lil long and I like to try to keep these short so imma step off. If you got someone you love and appreciate, give Emelie Hollow a listen and maybe text them . Aight.
