YEOOOO. If you’re reading this, I thank you for hoppin on my blog, and I really hope you enjoy it.
The foundation is a platform that broadcasts a real voice from a real person who encourages all to be open minded and interactive. This is an opportunity for me, and hopefully others in the future, to write about whatever they want relating to music. That could potentially include recommendations, interpretations, hot takes, rants, debates, whatever. However, one topic it will not include is negativity. I’m not a critic, and neither is anyone else I would potentially include on here. So if I don’t like the music, I won’t write about it, plain and simple.
I don’t think my music taste is better than anyone else’s, I just personally like to write about it. I’m calling this “my blog”, but my vision would be better described as a discussion. My dream is for this to be as incorporative and interactive as possible. If you’re ever listening to something, and feel so moved that you just have to write about it, HIT ME UP. I’d love to hear your thoughts and include you on the page.
I’m also not a trained writer, and I don’t have an editor, but I think that’s a strength of this format. Like I said, this is a real voice from a real person, not a company, and it’s important that it’s coming from the voice of the writer, not an English teacher or Microsoft grammar check. Journalists can be so caught up in the formalities of writing properly that it becomes hard to read. I’ll be abiding by the grammar and structure laws of however I see fit, and hopefully that’ll make it easy, quick, and enjoyable to read.
In summary, I want this platform to mimic all of the traits that I love about music: authenticity, versatility, and inclusivity. This brings me to my final point, the name. 10 Grand is an ode to the decathlon, my greatest passion in life. In the old scoring system, 10,000 points was considered to be a perfect decathlon. The decathlon requires and exhibits all of the traits I just listed about my aspirations for the blog. If you know what it is, well-roundedness is self-explanatory (if you don’t look it up). However, the other aspect that may be overlooked is its diversity; decathletes come in all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life. That is exactly what I want represented in this blog, and with time and a cohesive effort I know it’s possible.
P.S.
I’m just starting out with this and am still working out some kinks so bear with me!
